Okay, i'll admit that friends can be manipulated and they sometimes can't see the real person behind the facade but if that facade is consistent, then can't you take that as an extension of their internal value? I mean, of course we can't read people's minds so we have to take their actions and their words as our basis for understanding them. And if those actions are consistent and respected, then friends can be a measure for a person's value.
