Buddha swore off all material things and chose to toss aside his princely privileges and lead a life of suffering. I think my complete inability to bear suffering of any kind keeps me from pursuing Buddhism. That and a fundamental distrust and fear of organized religion. I sometimes dream of wandering the earth, with no material possessions, in an attempt to find enlightenment. But then I think about all the CDs that I would have to bring in order to remain sane and I realize that my eventual enlightenment will have to be accompanied by a soundtrack.
